Teachers of Professor Category in State Public Universities – 2012-13

Ministry of Human Resource Development had initiated an All India Survey on Higher Education (AISHE) in 2011 to prepare a sound database on Higher Education in the country.  The survey covers all the institutions in the country engaged in imparting the higher education.  It is getting updated from the annual data submitted by the institutions.

The number of Professor and Equivalent – Male teachers employed in the institution category of State Public University in 2012-13 was 37135. It was 71.45% of total Professor and Equivalent – Male teachers employed i.e. 51973 in all university type educational institutions in India in 2012-13. The number of Professor and Equivalent – Female teachers employed in the institution category of State Public University in 2012-13 was 12057. It was 73.54% of total Professor and Equivalent – Female teachers employed i.e. 16396 in all university type educational institutions in India in 2012-13.

The number of Associate Professor – Male teachers employed in the institution category of State Public University in 2012-13 was 72317. It was 84.6% of total Associate Professor – Male teachers employed i.e. 85483 in all university type educational institutions in India in 2012-13. The number of Associate Professor – Female teachers employed in the institution category of State Public University in 2012-13 was 35416. It was 83.27% of total Associate Professor – Female teachers employed i.e. 42531 in all university type educational institutions in India in 2012-13.

The number of Assistant Professor – Male teachers employed in the institution category of State Public University in 2012-13 was 203929. It was 86.24% of total Assistant Professor – Male teachers employed i.e. 236464 in all university type educational institutions in India in 2012-13. The number of Assistant Professor – Female teachers employed in the institution category of State Public University in 2012-13 was 146048. It was 87.65% of total Assistant Professor – Female teachers employed i.e. 166634 in all university type educational institutions in India in 2012-13.
