State/UT-wise LPG connections released to BPL families under CSR funds of Oil Public Sector Undertakings as on 01.10.2016

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) introduced in India under Section 135 of the Companies Act, 2013. The practice of CSR was particularly not very new to the Indian Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) as they had been practicing CSR under the Guidelines on Corporate Governance for Central Public Sector Enterprises, 2010 (issued by the Department of Public Enterprises). Thus, PSUs clearly had an added experience and advantage over other private companies in terms of CSR compliance.

There were 6998064 LPG connections released to BPL families in India (excluding Lakshadweep) through CSR funds of Oil Public Sector Undertakings as on 01.10.2016. The top 5 States/UTs in terms of number of LPG connections released to BPL families in India (excluding Lakshadweep) through CSR funds of Oil Public Sector Undertakings as on 01.10.2016 were: Uttar Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Odisha and Andhra Pradesh.

Number of LPG connections released to BPL families through CSR funds of Oil Public Sector Undertakings in Uttar Pradesh was 896463 as on 01.10.2016. It accounted 12.81% of the total LPG connections released to BPL families in India through CSR funds of Oil Public Sector Undertakings. Number of LPG connections released to BPL families through CSR funds of Oil Public Sector Undertakings in Telangana was 793083 as on 01.10.2016. It accounted 11.33% of the total LPG connections released to BPL families in India through CSR funds of Oil Public Sector Undertakings. Number of LPG connections released to BPL families through CSR funds of Oil Public Sector Undertakings in Karnataka was 654652 as on 01.10.2016. It accounted 9.35% of the total LPG connections released to BPL families in India through CSR funds of Oil Public Sector Undertakings. Number of LPG connections released to BPL families through CSR funds of Oil Public Sector Undertakings in Odisha was 611405 as on 01.10.2016. It accounted 8.74% of the total LPG connections released to BPL families in India through CSR funds of Oil Public Sector Undertakings. Number of LPG connections released to BPL families through CSR funds of Oil Public Sector Undertakings in Andhra Pradesh was 602640 as on 01.10.2016. It accounted 8.61% of the total LPG connections released to BPL families in India through CSR funds of Oil Public Sector Undertakings.

The above mentioned top 5 states accounted for 50.85% of the total number of LPG connections released to BPL families in India (excluding Lakshadweep) through CSR funds of Oil Public Sector Undertakings as on 01.10.2016.
