State/UT-wise Gross Enrollment Ratio at Higher Secondary Schools during 2015-16

During 2015-16, Gross Enrollment Ratio (GER) in Higher Secondary Schools of Boys, Girls and Total Students were 55.95, 56.41 and 56.16 respectively. Fifteen States/UTs viz. Daman & Diu with 21.54, Bihar with 35.62, Nagaland with 36.43, Odisha with 36.54, Assam with 38.81, Karnataka with 39.86, Meghalaya with 43.35, Gujarat with 43.43, Tripura with 43.46, Madhya Pradesh with 45.25, Jharkhand with 48.32, Dadra & Nagar Haveli with 48.49, West Bengal with 51.54, Chhattisgarh with 54 and Mizoram with 55.68 GER in Higher Secondary Schools are seen below the Nation value of 56.16 during 2015-16. Rest eighteen States/UTs viz. Lakshadweep (98.16), Himachal Pradesh (95.53), Chandigarh (83.28), Tamil Nadu (82.03), Delhi (77.9), Kerala (77.56), Goa (75.84), Uttarakhand (75.83), Puducherry (74.8), Andaman & Nicobar Islands (74.62), Punjab (70.19), Sikkim (68.23), Manipur (67.95), Maharashtra (67.81), Arunachal Pradesh (61.81), Telangana (61.32), Uttar Pradesh (60.78), Andhra Pradesh (60.16), Haryana (59.59), Rajasthan (59.31) and Jammu & Kashmir (58.6) are seen above the Nation value of 56.16 during 2015-16.

During 2014-15, GER in Higher Secondary Schools of Boys, Girls and Total Students were 54.57, 53.81 and 54.21 respectively. Thirteen States/UTs viz. Bihar, Karnataka, Nagaland, Assam, Meghalaya, Daman & Diu, Dadra & Nagar Haveli, Tripura, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, West Bengal and Andhra Pradesh are seen below the Nation value of 54.21 during 2014-15.

During 2013-14, GER in Higher Secondary Schools of Boys, Girls and Total Students were 52.77, 51.58 and 52.21 respectively. Thirteen States/UTs viz. Karnataka, Meghalaya, Bihar, Assam, Nagaland, Dadra & Nagar Haveli, Tripura, Jharkhand, Daman & Diu, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Gujarat and Jammu & Kashmir are seen below the Nation value of 52.21 during 2013-14.

Note: Ratios are based on projected population provided by the department of higher education, MHRD. Ratios for the year 2013-14 and 2014-15 includes enrolment in open schools provided by NIOS, NOIDA. In a few states such as Odisha higher secondary is part of higher education may not have been covered under U-DISE.
