State/UT-wise Central share of Fund released under Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan from 2014-15 to 2016-17

The Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) was launched in the year 2009 with an aim to universalize access to secondary schools by providing a secondary school within a reasonable distance (5 kilometers) of every habitation, improving quality of education through making all secondary schools conform to prescribed norms and through removal of gender, socio-economic and disability barriers with special focus on SC, ST and Minority students, as well as hilly and difficult areas. Under the scheme, financial assistance is provided to the States and UTs for opening of new Government secondary schools and school infrastructure including an Integrated Science Laboratory, Library, Art and Craft Room.

Central share of fund released under RMSA during the year 2016-17 as on 06.12.2016 was Rs. 256913.29 lakhs in India. The top 10 states in terms of Central share of fund released under RMSA during 2016-17 as on 06.12.2016 were: Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Assam, Tamil Nadu, Haryana and Gujarat.

Central share of fund released under RMSA in Rajasthan was Rs. 28762.99 lakhs during 2016-17. It was 11.2% of total Central share of fund released under RMSA in India during 2016-17. Central share of fund released under RMSA in Madhya Pradesh was Rs. 24175.59 lakhs during 2016-17. It was 9.41% of total Central share of fund released under RMSA in India during 2016-17. Central share of fund released under RMSA in Chhattisgarh was Rs. 18777.11 lakhs during 2016-17. It was 7.31% of total Central share of fund released under RMSA in India during 2016-17. Central share of fund released under RMSA in Bihar was Rs. 18496.36 lakhs during 2016-17. It was 7.2% of total Central share of fund released under RMSA in India during 2016-17. Central share of fund released under RMSA in Himachal Pradesh was Rs. 18204.97 lakhs during 2016-17. It was 7.09% of total Central share of fund released under RMSA in India during 2016-17.

These top 5 states accounted for 42.2% of the total Central share of fund released under RMSA in India as a whole during the year 2016-17 as on 06.12.2016.

Central share of fund released under RMSA in Uttar Pradesh was Rs. 17287.36 lakhs during 2016-17 (6.73% of All India). Central share of fund released under RMSA in Assam was Rs. 14506.65 lakhs during 2016-17 (5.65% of All India). Central share of fund released under RMSA in Tamil Nadu was Rs. 14458.1 lakhs during 2016-17 (5.63% of All India). Central share of fund released under RMSA in Haryana was Rs. 13698.05 lakhs during 2016-17 (5.33% of All India). Central share of fund released under RMSA in Gujarat was Rs. 13588.38 lakhs during 2016-17 (5.29% of All India).

The above mentioned top 10 states accounted for 70.82% of the total Central share of fund released under RMSA in India as a whole during the year 2016-17 as on 06.12.2016.
