State/UT-wise Percentage of Infants (0-1 years) given Rotavirus (3rd Dose) Vaccine during 2017-18 & 2018-19

India has witnessed a growth of 14.4% in percentage of infants (0-1 years) given 3rd dose of rotavirus vaccine to 32.2% during 2018-19 against 17.8% during 2017-18. Andhra Pradesh was observed in the top in terms of above the national percentage (32.2%) of infants (0-1 years) given 3rd dose of rotavirus vaccine during 2018-19 followed by Tripura, Himachal Pradesh, Assam, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Jharkhand.

The percentage of infants (0-1 years) given 3rd dose of rotavirus vaccine was 100.2% in Andhra Pradesh during 2018-19, up by 10.8% versus 89.4% during 2017-18. We have seen a growth of 35.6% in percentage of infants (0-1 years) given 3rd dose of rotavirus vaccine in Tripura from 59.4% during 2017-18 to 95% during 2018-19. The percentage of infants (0-1 years) given 3rd dose of rotavirus vaccine was 66.3% in Himachal Pradesh in 2017-18. It has increased by 24.4% to 90.7% during 2018-19 above 2017-18.

During 2018-19, there were 80.6%, 80.5%, 77.3%, 76.3%, 74.1%, 68.4% and 61.5% of infants (0-1 years) given 3rd dose of rotavirus vaccine in Assam, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Jharkhand respectively.

Note: Source: HMIS – Based on the data provided by the States/UTs; The dose and route for Rotavirus vaccine currently being supplied under UIP is 5 drops to be administered to all infants at 6, 10 and 14 weeks along with other vaccines in routine immunization. Rotavirus vaccine is not to be started with children already taking second or third dose of OPV and Pentavalent vaccine.
