State/UT-wise Fund Allocation under Jal Jeevan Mission during 2020-21

Jal Jeevan Mission, is envisioned to provide safe and adequate drinking water through individual household tap connections by 2024 to all households in rural India.

The Government of India is implementing Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) in partnership with States to provide potable tap water to every rural household through Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTCs) in adequate quantity of prescribed quality on a regular and long-term basis, by 2024.

At the time of the launch of Jal Jeevan Mission in August 2019, only 3.23 Crore (17%) rural households were reported to have tap water connections. Since then, 3.77 Crore households have been provided with functional tap water connections. The total outlay of the mission is Rs. 3.60 lakh Crore.

The top 10 States in terms of funds allocation were Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Bihar, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Assam, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Gujarat during 2020-21 (as on 15.03.2021).
