State/UT-wise Functioning of Rural PHCs As on 31st March 2019

As on 31st March 2019, 24,855 rural primary health centres (PHCs) were functioning in India. The top 5 States/UTs with respect to functioning of rural PHCs as on 31.03.2019 were Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Bihar and Maharashtra.

The number of rural PHCs functioning in Uttar Pradesh was 2,936 as on 31st March 2019, which accounted 11.81% of the total rural PHCs functioning in India. There were 2,127 functioning of rural PHCs in Karnataka as on 31/03/2019. It accounted 8.56% of the total rural PHCs functioning in India as on the same period. The number of rural PHCs functioning in Rajasthan was 2,082 as on 31.03.2019, which accounted 8.38% of the total rural PHCs functioning in India.

As on 31st March 2019, there was functioning of 1,899 and 1,828 rural PHCs in Bihar and Maharashtra respectively. Bihar accounted for 7.64% and Maharashtra accounted for 7.35% of the total rural PHCs functioning in India as on 31/03/2019.

Note: Rural and Urban PHCs consists of PHCs and HWCs-PHCs functional under respective areas.
