State/UT-wise Foreign Tourists visit to India during 2016 & 2017

Foreign tourists visit to India was 26886638 during 2017, up by 8.8% versus 24714503 during 2016. The top 5 States/UTs with respect to maximum annual growth rate in foreign tourists visit during 2017 were Tripura, Punjab, Telangana, Meghalaya and Lakshadweep.

Tripura has been seen with 90% growth in foreign tourists visit from 36780 during 2016 to 69899 during 2017. The number of foreign tourists visit to Punjab was 659736 during 2016. It has increased by 68% to 1108635 during 2017 over 2016. We have observed annual growth of 51.2% in Telangana in foreign tourists visit to 251846 during 2017 from 166570 during 2016.

The number of foreign tourists visit to Meghalaya was 12051 and Lakshadweep was 1027 during 2017. Annual growth of 42.2% and 36.4% has been found in Meghalaya and Lakshadweep respectively in foreign tourists visit during 2017 above 2016.

The top 5 States/UTs in terms of maximum number of foreign tourists visit during 2017 were Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and Rajasthan. The number of foreign tourists visit to Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and Rajasthan was 5078514, 4860455, 3556204, 2740502 and 1609963 respectively during 2017.
