We have observed annual growth of 28.27% in expenditure incurred for National Tobacco Control Programme (NTCP) in India during 2017-18 in comparison to 188.68% during 2016-17. The amount of expenditure incurred for NTCP in India was Rs. 1026.39, 2963.02 and 3800.78 lakhs during 2015-16 to 2017-18 respectively. The top 5 States/UTs in terms of expenditure incurred for NTCP during 2017-18 were Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Karnataka and Uttarakhand.
There was an expenditure of Rs. 1009.35 lakhs for NTCP for Uttar Pradesh during 2017-18, which accounted 26.56% of the total expenditure incurred in India. It has increased by 40.94% for Uttar Pradesh during 2017-18 above 2016-17 from Rs. 716.16 lakhs. Amount of expenditure incurred for NTCP was Rs. 454.52 lakhs for Gujarat during 2017-18, up by 59.35% against Rs. 285.24 lakhs during 2016-17. It accounted 11.96% of the total expenditure incurred for NTCP in India during 2017-18. There was an expenditure of Rs. 390.79 lakhs for NTCP for Rajasthan during 2017-18, which accounted 10.28% of the total expenditure incurred in India. It has decreased by -5.84% for Rajasthan during 2017-18 above 2016-17 from Rs. 415.01 lakhs.
Amount of expenditure incurred for NTCP was Rs. 346.39 lakhs for Karnataka and Rs. 302.98 lakhs for Uttarakhand during 2017-18. Karnataka and Uttarakhand accounted for 9.11% and 7.97% respectively of the total expenditure incurred for NTCP in India during 2017-18. Annual growth of 21.97% and 742.55% has been seen in expenditure incurred for NTCP for Karnataka and Uttarakhand respectively during 2017-18 over 2016-17.
