State/UT-wise Allocation of Budget for National De-worming Day during 2017-18

Government of India is conducting the National De-worming Day (NDD) bi-annually/annually in all the States/UTs. During NDD, single dose of Albendazole is administered to children from 1-19 years of age group in campaign mode. This NDD campaign is implemented with an objective to reduce the prevalence of Soil Transmitted Helminths (STH) or parasitic intestinal worms so that they are no longer a public health problem. For implementation of NDD, all the States/UTs have been provided fund through National Health Mission (NHM) annual project implementation plan.

Allocation of Budget for NDD was Rs. 14625.73 lakhs in India during 2017-18. The top 5 States/UTs with respect to budget allocated for NDD during 2017-18 were Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Tamil Nadu, Jharkhand and Madhya Pradesh.

Budget allocated for Uttar Pradesh was Rs. 3318.71 lakhs under NDD campaign during 2017-18, which accounted 22.69% of the total allocation of budget in India for NDD. There was allocation of Rs. 1768.74 lakhs for Bihar under NDD campaign during 2017-18. It accounted 12.09% of the total budget allocated in India for NDD during the same period. Budget allocated for Tamil Nadu was Rs. 1071.91 lakhs under NDD campaign during 2017-18, which accounted 7.33% of the total allocation of budget in India for NDD.

There was allocation of Rs. 910.31 lakhs and Rs. 738.82 lakhs for Jharkhand and Madhya Pradesh respectively under NDD campaign during 2017-18. Jharkhand accounted for 6.22% and Madhya Pradesh accounted for 5.05% of the total budget allocated in India for NDD campaign during the same period.
