State/UT-wise Accrual/Allocation of Fund under Central Road Fund Scheme from 2015-16 to 2017-18

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways allocates funds to the States/Union Territories (UTs) for development and maintenance of State Roads (Non Rural Roads) including State Highways under the Central Road Fund (CRF) scheme. Apart from this, the Ministry also allocates funds for development of State Roads of Economic Importance and Inter-State Connectivity (EI & ISC) as per the CRF Act, 2000 amended by the Finance Act from time to time.

The top 5 States/UTs in terms of Accrual/Allocation of Fund under CRF Scheme from 2015-16 to 2017-18 were Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Karnataka. The amount of fund allocated under CRF scheme for Maharashtra was Rs. 289.57 crore during 2015-16. It has increased by 147.84% during 2016-17 versus 2015-16. We have observed annual decline of -8.01% in allocation of fund for Maharashtra under CRF scheme from Rs. 717.66 crore during 2016-17 to Rs. 660.16 crore during 2017-18. Allocation of fund was Rs. 265.4 crore for Rajasthan under CRF scheme during 2015-16. It has increased by 149.83% during 2016-17 over 2015-16. Annual de-growth of -6.81% has been seen in allocation of fund for Rajasthan under CRF scheme to Rs. 617.93 crore during 2017-18 versus Rs. 663.06 crore during 2016-17.

The amount of fund allocated under CRF scheme for Uttar Pradesh was Rs. 227.69 crore during 2015-16. It has increased by 150% during 2016-17 versus 2015-16. We have found annual growth of 3.13% in allocation of fund for Uttar Pradesh under CRF scheme from Rs. 569.23 crore during 2016-17 to Rs. 587.07 crore during 2017-18. Fund allocation was Rs. 226.82 crore for Madhya Pradesh and Rs. 178.18 crore for Karnataka under CRF scheme during 2015-16. Annual growth of 149.71% and 153.09% has been observed in allocation of fund for Madhya Pradesh and Karnataka respectively under CRF scheme during 2016-17 over 2015-16. Allocation of fund was Rs. 525.83 crore for Madhya Pradesh under CRF scheme during 2017-18, down by -7.16% from Rs. 566.39 crore during 2016-17. Allocation of fund was Rs. 430 crore for Karnataka under CRF scheme during 2017-18, down by -4.65% versus Rs. 450.95 crore during 2016-17.
