Road Length by Category in India from 2001 to 2015

We have seen a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 3.52% in Total Road Length in India during 2001 to 2015. The total road length of India as on 31st March 2001 and as on 31st March 2015 were 3373520 Kms. and 5472144.255 Kms. respectively. There are various Categories of Roads in India like National Highways, State Highways, Other PWD Roads, Panchayat Raj Roads, JRY & PMGSY Roads, Urban Roads and Project Roads.

During 2001 to 2015, we have seen a CAGR of 3.85% in length of National Highways in India. The length of National Highways in India as on 31st March 2001 and as on 31st March 2015 were 57737 Kms. and 97991.12 Kms. respectively. During 2001 to 2015, we have seen a CAGR of 1.69% in length of State Highways in India. The length of State Highways in India as on 31st March 2001 and as on 31st March 2015 were 132100 Kms. and 167109.135 Kms. respectively. During 2001 to 2015, we have seen a CAGR of 2.92% in length of Other PWD Roads in India. The length of Other PWD Roads in India as on 31st March 2001 and as on 31st March 2015 were 736001 Kms. and 1101178 Kms. respectively.

During 2001 to 2015, we have seen a CAGR of 3.93% in length of Panchayat Raj Roads in India. The length of Panchayat Raj Roads in India as on 31st March 2001 and as on 31st March 2015 were 1068020 Kms. and 1831043 Kms. respectively. During 2001 to 2015, we have seen a CAGR of 3.71% in length of JRY & PMGSY Roads in India. The length of JRY & PMGSY Roads in India as on 31st March 2001 and as on 31st March 2015 were 903996 Kms. and 1506212 Kms. respectively. During 2001 to 2015, we have seen a CAGR of 4.51% in length of Urban Roads in India. The length of Urban Roads in India as on 31st March 2001 and as on 31st March 2015 were 252001 Kms. and 467106 Kms. respectively. During 2001 to 2015, we have seen a CAGR of 2.16% in length of Project Roads in India. The length of Project Roads in India as on 31st March 2001 and as on 31st March 2015 were 223665 Kms. and 301505 Kms. respectively.
