Road accident deaths in India by mode of transport (Top 5) during 2013

The total number of road accident deaths in India during 2013 was 137423. Out of these, the number of males was 117055, while the number of females was 20368. Thus, the percentage of male victims was 85.18%, while the percentage of females was 14.82%.

The number of road accident deaths in India during 2013 by Two Wheeler was 34187. Out of these, the number of males was 29988, while the number of females was 4199. Thus, the percentage of male victims was 87.72%, while the percentage of females was 12.28%. Two Wheeler caused 24.88% of the total number of road accident deaths in India during 2013.

The number of road accident deaths in India during 2013 by Truck/Lorry was 24081. Out of these, the number of males was 21238, while the number of females was 2843. Thus, the percentage of male victims was 88.19%, while the percentage of females was 11.81%. Truck/Lorry caused 17.52% of the total number of road accident deaths in India during 2013.

The number of road accident deaths in India during 2013 by Car was 14803. Out of these, the number of males was 12359, while the number of females was 2444. Thus, the percentage of male victims was 83.49%, while the percentage of females was 16.51%. Car caused 10.77% of the total number of road accident deaths in India during 2013.

The number of road accident deaths in India during 2013 of Pedestrian was 12385. Out of these, the number of males was 10005, while the number of females was 2380. Thus, the percentage of male victims was 80.78%, while the percentage of females was 19.22%. Pedestrian accounted for 9.01% of the total number of road accident deaths in India during 2013.

The number of road accident deaths in India during 2013 by Bus was 12055. Out of these, the number of males was 9789, while the number of females was 2266. Thus, the percentage of male victims was 81.2%, while the percentage of females was 18.8%. Bus caused 8.77% of the total number of road accident deaths in India during 2013.
