Registration of New Companies Limited by Shares in India during 2011-12

The total number of new companies limited by shares registered in India during 2011-12 was 99639. The total authorised capital of these 99639 newly registered companies was Rs. 34818.34 crores.

The region wise total number of new companies limited by shares registered during 2011-12 was: Northern Region – 31611 new companies registered; Eastern Region – 22330 new companies registered; Western Region – 24728 new companies registered and Southern Region – 20970 new companies registered. Thus, the maximum number of new companies limited by shares registered during 2011-12 was in the Northern Region where 31611 new companies were registered during the period with a lead of 6883 over the second highest Region i.e. Western Region where 24728 new companies were registered.

The total authorised capital of the new companies registered in these four regions during 2011-12 was: Northern Region – Rs. 11813.99 crores (33.93%); Eastern Region – Rs. 3688.51 crores (10.59%); Western Region – Rs. 11082.27 crores (31.83%) and Southern Region – Rs. 8233.57 crores (23.65%).

Some regions having more newly registered companies, ranks lower in total authorised capital. For example, Eastern Region has 22330 newly registered companies (22.41% of total newly registered companies) and ranks second; yet it lags behind in total authorised capital at Rs. 3688.51 crores (10.59% of total paid-up capital) and ranks fourth. This reflects average lower level of authorised capital for the new companies registered in Eastern Region.

Further, Western Region has 24728 newly registered companies (24.82% of total newly registered companies) and total authorised capital at Rs. 11082.27 crores (31.83% of total authorised capital); and ranks second in both; yet it is at top in terms of authorised capital per new registered company at Rs. 45 Lakhs.
