Region-wise Natural Gas Reserves during 2016

World Proven Natural Gas Reserves was 186.574 trillion cubic metres during 2016, up by 0.62% versus 185.419 trillion cubic metres during 2015. Middle East region observed with maximum percentage share of Natural Gas Reserves during 2016; followed by Europe & Eurasia, Asia Pacific, Africa, North America and S. & Cent. America. Middle East region accounted for 42.54% of the World Proven Natural Gas Reserves during 2016. Natural Gas Reserves was 79.411 trillion cubic metres in Middle East region during 2015. It has decreased by -0.04% to 79.377 trillion cubic metres in Middle East region during 2016 over 2015.

Natural Gas Reserves was 56.692 trillion cubic metres in Europe & Eurasia region during 2016, which accounted 30.39% of the World Proven Natural Gas Reserves during the same year. During 2016, Natural Gas Reserves was 17.536, 14.251, 11.129 and 7.589 trillion cubic metres in Asia Pacific, Africa, North America and S. & Cent. America region respectively. Asia Pacific, Africa, North America and S. & Cent. America region accounted for 9.4%, 7.64%, 5.96% and 4.07% respectively of the World Proven Natural Gas Reserves during 2016.

Natural Gas Reserves was 1.227 trillion cubic metres in India during 2016, down by -2% against 1.252 trillion cubic metres during 2015. Natural Gas Reserves in India accounted for 0.66% of the World Proven Natural Gas Reserves and 7% of the total Natural Gas Reserves in Asia Pacific region during 2016.
