Public debt (total liabilities) as percentage of revenue receipt from 2007-08 to 2012-13

Public debt (total liabilities) as percentage of revenue receipt of all the states along with Delhi & Puducherry has decreased from 195.7% in 2007-08 to 164.6% in 2012-13 (Pre-Actual). There were ups and downs in public debt (total liabilities) as percentage of revenue receipt in this period. Public debt (total liabilities) as percentage of revenue receipt of all the states along with Delhi & Puducherry was at the highest level i.e. 201.0% in 2009-10 during the said period. While the lowest level i.e. 150.7% Public debt (total liabilities) as percentage of revenue receipt of all the states was in 2010-11.

The 10 States/UTs with highest level of Public debt (total liabilities) as percentage of revenue receipt in 2012-13 are: West Bengal with 336.4% Public debt (total liabilities) as percentage of revenue receipt; Punjab with 287.9%; Gujarat with 232.5%; Kerala with 210.2%; Haryana with 201.4%; Maharashtra with 185.1%; Himachal Pradesh with 184.0%; Rajasthan with 176.1%; Goa with 163.5%; and Puducherry with 158.5%. All these states except Maharashtra and Puducherry have shown a decline in the Public debt (total liabilities) as percentage of revenue receipt during the period.
