Progress of Tamil Nadu’s Open Government Data Portal as on 31-03-2019

Open Government Data Portal of Tamil Nadu https://tn.data.gov.in/ is a portal for supporting Open Data initiative of Government of Tamil Nadu, which presently has 10,865 resources / datasets under 599 catalogs from 43 departments.

Majority of the datasets are from “Department of Economics and Statistics” in which the entire data from the Statistical Hand books for 4 years from 2014 to 2017, covering the major 42 sectors of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Education, Health, Judicial Administration, Industries, Road and Transport etc are included.

Also, datasets from Horticulture Dept, on the Area, production and productivity of various categories such as plantation crops, flowers, vegetables, medicinal crops, spices & condiments etc for the years from 2011-12 to 2016-17 have been published.

Similarly, departments namely Tamil Nadu Slum Clearance Board, Directorate of Medical and Rural health Services, Handloom and Textiles, Energy, Fisheries and Forests have also contributed data to the Tamil Nadu Open Government Data portal.

The following mobile apps have been developed based on the data published in the portal and the same have been hosted in Google Play Store for the public to use the apps, as applicable.

• Location of Medical Scan Centres in Tamil Nadu
• Location of Common Service Centres run by Tamil Nadu e-Governance Agency (TNeGA)
• Location of Aadhaar enrolment Centres run by Electronics Corporation of Tamil Nadu Limited (ELCOT)

In addition, few visualisations and Infographics based on the data available in Statistical Hand book for the years 2016 & 2017 have been published in the Open Government Data portal of Tamil Nadu.
