Postal Life Insurance (PLI) Policies in Force from 2001-02 to 2014-15

The number of Postal Life Insurance (PLI) policies in force was 2008575 in 2001-02. The number of PLI policies in force was 2098577 in 2002-03. It increased by 90002 as compared to 2001-02. In percentage terms, the growth was 4.46%. The number of PLI policies in force was 2208683 in 2003-04. It increased by 110106 as compared to 2002-03. In percentage terms, the growth was 5.24%. The number of PLI policies in force was 2857797 in 2004-05. It increased by 649114 as compared to 2003-04. In percentage terms, the growth was 29.39%.

The number of PLI policies in force was 3098248 in 2005-06. It increased by 240451 as compared to 2004-05. In percentage terms, the growth was 8.41%. The number of PLI policies in force was 3297825 in 2006-07. It increased by 199577 as compared to 2005-06. In percentage terms, the growth was 6.44%. The number of PLI policies in force was 3550084 in 2007-08. It increased by 252259 as compared to 2006-07. In percentage terms, the growth was 7.65%. The number of PLI policies in force was 3841539 in 2008-09. It increased by 291455 as compared to 2007-08. In percentage terms, the growth was 8.21%. The number of PLI policies in force was 4283302 in 2009-10. It increased by 441763 as compared to 2008-09. In percentage terms, the growth was 11.5%.

The number of PLI policies in force was 4686245 in 2010-11. It increased by 402943 as compared to 2009-10. In percentage terms, the growth was 9.4%. The number of PLI policies in force was 5006060 in 2011-12. It increased by 319815 as compared to 2010-11. In percentage terms, the growth was 6.82%. The number of PLI policies in force was 5219326 in 2012-13. It increased by 213266 as compared to 2011-12. In percentage terms, the growth was 4.26%. The number of PLI policies in force was 5406093 in 2013-14. It increased by 186767 as compared to 2012-13. In percentage terms, the growth was 3.58%.

The number of PLI policies in force was 5242257 in 2014-15. It decreased by -163836 as compared to 2013-14. In percentage terms, the decrease was -3.03%. This was the only year which recorded a decline in the number of PLI policies in force during the period under consideration i.e. from 2001-02 to 2014-15.

The maximum annual growth in number of Postal Life Insurance policies in force of 649114 was recorded in the year 2004-05 during the period under consideration. The maximum annual growth in percentage terms in number of Postal Life Insurance policies in force of 29.39% was also recorded in the year 2004-05 during the period under consideration.
