Places of Safety and Homes for Children under Integrated Child Protection Scheme (ICPS) as on 31.03.2016

Integrated Child Protection Scheme (ICPS) is a centrally sponsored scheme aimed at building a protective environment for children in difficult circumstances, as well as other vulnerable children, through Government-Civil Society Partnership. The scheme also envisages a child protection data management system to formulate and implement effective intervention strategies and monitor their outcomes.

The total number of homes for children (including observation homes, special homes, observation cum special homes, and places of safety) being funded under ICPSin India was 356 as on 31.03.2016. The top 10 states in terms of the total number of homes for children were: Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, West Bengal, Bihar and Nagaland as on 31.03.2016.

The total number of homes for children in Maharashtra was 55 as on 31.03.2016. It accounted for 15.45% of the total number of homes for children in India as on 31.03.2016.

The total number of homes for children in Rajasthan was 37 as on 31.03.2016. It accounted for 10.39% of the total number of homes for children in India as on 31.03.2016. The total number of homes for children in Uttar Pradesh was 32 as on 31.03.2016. It accounted for 8.99% of the total number of homes for children in India as on 31.03.2016.

The total number of homes for children in Chhattisgarh was 25 as on 31.03.2016. It accounted for 7.02% of the total number of homes for children in India as on 31.03.2016. The total number of homes for children in Madhya Pradesh was 21 as on 31.03.2016. It accounted for 5.9% of the total number of homes for children in India as on 31.03.2016.

These top 5 states accounted for 47.75% of the total number of homes for children in India as a whole as on 31.03.2016.

The total number of homes for children in Karnataka was 17 as on 31.03.2016 (4.78% of All India). The total number of homes for children in Kerala was 17 as on 31.03.2016 (4.78% of All India). The total number of homes for children in West Bengal was 14 as on 31.03.2016 (3.93% of All India). The total number of homes for children in Bihar was 13 as on 31.03.2016 (3.65% of All India). The total number of homes for children in Nagaland was 12 as on 31.03.2016 (3.37% of All India).

The above mentioned top 10 states accounted for 68.26% of the total number of homes for children in India as a whole as on 31.03.2016.
