Outstanding liabilities (Public Debt) as percentage of GSDP from 2007-08 to 2013-14

Outstanding liabilities (Public Debt) as percentage of GSDP of all the states along with Delhi & Puducherry has decreased from 28.75 % in 2007-08 to 23.3 % in 2013-14 Budget Estimate (BE). There were ups and downs in Outstanding liabilities (Public Debt) as percentage of GSDP in this period.

Outstanding liabilities (Public Debt) as percentage of GSDP of all the states along with Delhi & Puducherry declined during 2007-08 to 2010-11 steadily but again increased to 28.59% in 2011-12 (Pre. Actual). Thereafter, it declined during 2012-13 (Pre. Actual) to 2013-14 (BE) consistently to the lowest level of 23.3 % in 2013-14 (BE) as percentage of GSDP of all the states along with Delhi & Puducherry.

The 10 States/UTs with highest level of Outstanding liabilities (Public Debt) as percentage of GSDP in 2013-14 are: Jammu & Kashmir with 50.4%; Manipur with 49.13%; Mizoram with 47.04%; Nagaland with 41.2%; Himachal Pradesh with 37.72%; West Bengal with 35.34%; Punjab with 32.26%; Tripura with 29.73%; Arunachal Pradesh with 29.66% and Kerala with 28.52%.
