The number of operational Anganwadi Centres in India was 1349091 as on 31.12.2015. The top 10 States/UTs in terms of the number of operational Anganwadi Centres were: Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Odisha, Karnataka, Assam, Rajasthan and Andhra Pradesh as on 31.12.2015.

The number of operational Anganwadi Centres in Uttar Pradesh was 187997 as on 31.12.2015. It accounted for 13.94% of the number of operational Anganwadi Centres in India as on 31.12.2015.

The number of operational Anganwadi Centres in West Bengal was 114763 as on 31.12.2015. It accounted for 8.51% of the number of operational Anganwadi Centres in India as on 31.12.2015. The number of operational Anganwadi Centres in Maharashtra was 108010 as on 31.12.2015. It accounted for 8.01% of the number of operational Anganwadi Centres in India as on 31.12.2015.

The number of operational Anganwadi Centres in Madhya Pradesh was 92198 as on 31.12.2015. It accounted for 6.83% of the number of operational Anganwadi Centres in India as on 31.12.2015. The number of operational Anganwadi Centres in Bihar was 91677 as on 31.12.2015. It accounted for 6.8% of the number of operational Anganwadi Centres in India as on 31.12.2015.

These top 5 states accounted for 44.09% of the total number of operational Anganwadi Centres in India as a whole as on 31.12.2015.

The number of operational Anganwadi Centres in Odisha was 71204 as on 31.12.2015 (5.28% of All India). The number of operational Anganwadi Centres in Karnataka was 64558 as on 31.12.2015 (4.79% of All India). The number of operational Anganwadi Centres in Assam was 62153 as on 31.12.2015 (4.61% of All India). The number of operational Anganwadi Centres in Rajasthan was 60801 as on 31.12.2015 (4.51% of All India). The above mentioned top 10 states accounted for 67.4% of the total number of operational Anganwadi Centres in India as a whole as on 31.12.2015.

Among the Union Territories in India, Delhi was top in terms of the number of operational Anganwadi Centres. The number of operational Anganwadi Centres in Delhi was 10897 as on 31.12.2015. It accounted for 0.81% of the number of operational Anganwadi Centres in India as on 31.12.2015.
