Nature of Property-wise number of Property Stolen Cases in India and its Value during 2016

The number of property stolen cases was 671139 in India in 2016, whose value was Rs. 9733.1 crores. During 2016, property stolen cases reported according to nature of property named Cash/Jewellery, Motor Vehicles, Electronic Gadgets, Cultural Property, Cattle, Communication & Electricity Wire, Cycle, Fire Arms and Other Kind of Property.

Excluding ‘Other Kind of Property’, the top 3 nature of property stolen cases reported during 2016 were ‘Motor Vehicles’, ‘Cash/Jewellery’ and ‘Electronic Gadgets’. The number of property stolen cases for Other Kind of Property was 237090 in India during 2016, which accounted 35.3% of the total property stolen cases reported in India. The value of stolen property for Other Kind of Property was Rs. 6422.2 crores during 2016.

There were 211844 property stolen cases of Motor Vehicles reported in India during 2016 with cost of Rs. 1182.7 crores. Motor Vehicles property stolen cases accounted for 31.6% of the total number of property stolen cases reported in India during 2016. The number of property stolen cases for Cash/Jewellery was 130545 in India during 2016 with value of Rs. 1843.6 crores. Cash/Jewellery property stolen cases accounted for 19.5% of the total number of property stolen cases reported in India during 2016. There were 72849 property stolen cases reported for Electronic Gadgets in India during 2016, whose value was Rs. 139.4 crores. Electronic Gadgets property stolen cases accounted for 10.9% of the total number of property stolen cases reported in India during 2016.
