The Open Government Data Portal of Tamil Nadu has been set up at https://tn.data.gov.in to provide collated access to resources (datasets/apps) under catalogs, published by different government entities under Government of Tamil Nadu in open data format. It also provides a search/discovery mechanism for instant access to desired datasets. It also has a rich mechanism for citizen engagement. Besides enabling citizens to express their need for a specific resource (datasets or apps) or API, it also allows them to rate the quality of datasets.
Tamil Nadu Medical Services Corporation Ltd., (TNMSC) has recently published a dataset titled “List of Medical Scan Centres (CT/MRI/LITHO) available in Tamil Nadu” on TNOGD portal. The published dataset has the details of Medical Scan Centres including CT, MRI and Lithotripsy in various Government Medical Institutions across the state of Tamil Nadu, which are all operated by TNMSC on user charge collection basis. The dataset has the details of Scan centres including the type of scan centre (CT/MRI/Litho), Hospital Name/Type, Address, phone number and service availability etc. The dataset is available at https://tn.data.gov.in/catalog/list-scan-centres-ct-mri-litho-tamil-nadu#web_catalog_tabs_block_10
To showcase the potential of open data, TNOGD team with the support of NIC has recently released an Android mobile application, “TNMSC – Medical Scan Centres” on Google Play Store. This App will help users to find the CT/MRI/Litho Scan Centres in the nearby Government Hospitals. Users can also search the Scan Centres by their type (CT/MRI/Litho) or by the Location (District/Taluk/Place).
