Incidence of rape committed against children during 2013

The 10 States/UTs with highest incidence of rape committed against children during 2013 were: Madhya Pradesh (2112); Maharashtra (1546); Uttar Pradesh (1381); Rajasthan (892); Andhra Pradesh (770); Delhi UT (757); Kerala (637); Chhattisgarh (595); Odisha (509) and Punjab (490).

The 5 States/UTs with lowest incidence of rape committed against children during 2013 were: Puducherry (9); D & N Haveli (4); Daman & Diu (4); Nagaland (3) and Lakshadweep (0). However, these States/UTs have only quite small population.

In case of entire India, total incidence of rape committed against children during 2013 was 12363. Madhya Pradesh accounts for 2112 rapes, which was 17.08% of the total 12363 rapes in the entire country; Maharashtra accounts for 1546 rapes, which is 12.51% of the total 12363 rapes in the entire country and Uttar Pradesh accounts for 1381 rapes, which is 11.17% of the total 12363 rapes in the entire country. Thus, these 3 states accounted for 40.76% of total number of 12363 rapes of children across the country. However, it has to be kept in mind that these states also account for the large chunk of the population of the entire country.
