Import of Top 5 Products of Organic Chemicals under Major Chemicals from 2009-10 to 2016-17

The Import of top 5 Products in Organic Chemicals under Major Chemicals during 2016-17 was Acetic Acid, Acetone, Phenol, Methanol and Citric Acid. Import of Acetic Acid was 389650 metric tonne during 2009-10. It has increased by 19.62% to 466097 metric tonne during 2010-11 over 2009-10. In value term it was Rs. 82134 lakh and Rs. 96233 lakh during 2009-10 and 2010-11 respectively. We have observed annual growth of 6.94% in Import of Acetic Acid to 847808 metric tonne during 2016-17 versus 792775 metric tonne during 2015-16. Its value was Rs. 206305 lakh during 2015-16 and Rs. 193958 lakh during 2016-17.

Import of Acetone was 80081 metric tonne during 2009-10. It has decreased by -2.3% to 78236 metric tonne during 2010-11 over 2009-10. In value term it was Rs. 31181 lakh and Rs. 32100 lakh during 2009-10 and 2010-11 respectively. We have seen annual decline of -1.82% in Import of Acetone to 135887 metric tonne during 2016-17 versus 138402 metric tonne during 2015-16. Its value was Rs. 55796 lakh during 2015-16 and Rs. 63055 lakh during 2016-17. Import of Phenol was 103071 metric tonne during 2009-10. It has increased by 19.81% to 123490 metric tonne during 2010-11 over 2009-10. In value term it was Rs. 51907 lakh during 2009-10 and Rs. 93671 lakh during 2010-11. Annual growth of 13.43% has been observed in Import of Phenol from 248769 metric tonne during 2015-16 to 282187 metric tonne during 2016-17. Its value was Rs. 147715 lakh and Rs. 176601 lakh during 2015-16 and 2016-17 respectively.

Import of Methanol was 822248 metric tonne during 2009-10. It has decreased by -1.07% to 813422 metric tonne during 2010-11 over 2009-10. In value term it was Rs. 89941 lakh and Rs. 103539 lakh during 2009-10 and 2010-11 respectively. We have seen annual de-growth of -4.35% in Import of Methanol to 1637457 metric tonne during 2016-17 versus 1711879 metric tonne during 2015-16. Its value was Rs. 285259 lakh during 2015-16 and Rs. 295762 lakh during 2016-17. Import of Citric Acid was 40467 metric tonne during 2009-10. It has increased by 8.98% to 44102 metric tonne during 2010-11 over 2009-10. In value term it was Rs. 14750 lakh during 2009-10 and Rs. 18562 lakh during 2010-11. Annual growth of 7.51% has been observed in Import of Citric Acid from 75978 metric tonne during 2015-16 to 81681 metric tonne during 2016-17. Its value was Rs. 36119 lakh and Rs. 39558 lakh during 2015-16 and 2016-17 respectively.

Maximum annual growth rate of 22.3%, 28.63%, 47.48% and 22.5% has been observed in Import of Acetic Acid, Acetone, Methanol and Citric Acid respectively in the year 2011-12 during the period under consideration. Maximum annual growth rate of 24.31% has been found in Import of Phenol in 2015-16 during the period under consideration.
