Gross Import of Crude Oil by India from 2012-13 to 2018-19

India has witnessed an increasing trend in gross import of crude oil from 2012-13 to 2018-19. However, compound annual growth rate of 3.45% has been observed in gross import of crude oil by India during the period under consideration.

The gross crude oil import was 184,795 thousand metric tonnes (TMT) by India in 2012-13. It has increased by 2.4% to 189,238 TMT during 2013-14 over 2012-13. In value term it was Rs. 784,652 crore in 2012-13 and Rs. 864,875 crore in 2013-14. We have seen annual growth of 3.04% in gross import of crude oil by India during 2017-18 from 213,932 TMT during 2016-17. Gross import of crude oil by India was 226,498 TMT in 2018-19, up by 2.75% against 220,433 TMT during 2017-18. The value of gross crude oil imported was Rs. 470,159, 566,450 and 783,183 crore from 2016-17 to 2018-19 respectively.

The maximum value of Rs. 864,875 crore found in 2013-14 and minimum value of Rs. 416,579 crore seen in 2015-16 in gross crude oil imported by India during the period under consideration.
