IIP: Annual Averages for Food, Tobacco, Metals and Fabricated products from 2005-06 to 2013-14

The Index of Industrial Production (IIP) is a composite indicator that measures the changes in the volume of production of a basket of industrial products during a given period with respect to the volume of production in a chosen base period. The Index of Industrial Production (IIP) currently has 2004-05 as base year.

Food products and beverages category has a weightage of 72.76 in IIP. It accounts for the 9.63% of the total Manufacturing Sector (with weight of 755.27 in IIP) and 7.28% of the entire IIP (having total weight of 1000). It has increased from 113.17 in the year 2005-2006 to 167.7 in the year 2013-14. It has shown total increase of 54.53 points during the period from 2005-06 to 2013-14. The average annual growth in the index from 2005-06 to 2013-14 was 6.82 points.

Tobacco products category has a weightage of 15.7 in IIP. It accounts for the 2.08% of the total Manufacturing Sector (with weight of 755.27 in IIP) and 1.57% of the entire IIP (having total weight of 1000). It has increased from 101.03 in the year 2005-2006 to 110.15 in the year 2013-14. It has shown total increase of 9.12 points during the period from 2005-06 to 2013-14. The average annual growth in the index from 2005-06 to 2013-14 was 1.14 points.

Basic metals category has a weightage of 113.35 in IIP. It accounts for the 15.01% of the total Manufacturing Sector (with weight of 755.27 in IIP) and 11.34% of the entire IIP (having total weight of 1000). It has increased from 115.53 in the year 2005-2006 to 196.43 in the year 2013-14. It has shown total increase of 80.9 points during the period from 2005-06 to 2013-14. The average annual growth in the index from 2005-06 to 2013-14 was 10.11 points.

Fabricated metal products except machinery and equipment category has a weightage of 30.85 in IIP. It accounts for the 4.08% of the total Manufacturing Sector (with weight of 755.27 in IIP) and 3.09% of the entire IIP (having total weight of 1000). It has increased from 111.14 in the year 2005-2006 to 180.22 in the year 2013-14. It has shown total increase of 69.08 points during the period from 2005-06 to 2013-14. The average annual growth in the index from 2005-06 to 2013-14 was 8.64 points.
