May 20, 2020

Health datasets are always significant in managing health ecosystem of a country. With an efficient Health Management System data-driven decision making becomes more effective. It helps governments formulate policies and implement it till the grassroot level. Similarly, these datasets are also helpful for academia, community, researchers, etc. to help in better decision making.

In India, the Health Management Information System (HMIS) is an online portal that provides information on health indicators. HMIS enables monitoring pre-defined health indicators and the embedded exception reporting facilitates decision making by the hospital management and state level administrators for policy and strategic decisions.

Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has been sharing the data generated through HMIS system as Standard Reports with Open government Data (OGD) Platform, and recently they have started sharing the HMIS data through API. These data resources provide monthly data of health indicators for individual district.
