Funds provided for Civic Action Programme in North Eastern States from 2006-07 to 2013-14

Since some of the North Eastern States are affected by insurgency and militancy, there is a constant need to deploy Army and other Central Paramilitary Forces in the region to combat insurgency. In order to take the local populace in confidence and boost the image of armed forces among the common people, Army and Central Paramilitary Forces conduct Civic Action Programme. Under this Programme, various welfare/developmental activities are undertaken like holding of medical camps, sanitation drives, sports meets, distribution of study material to children, minor repairs of school buildings, roads, bridges, etc. and running adult education centers, etc.

The total amount of funds released for Civic Action Programme in NE States was: Rs. 7607.10 Lakhs during 2006-07 to 2013-14. The Year wise amount was: Rs. 700 Lakhs in 2006-07; Rs. 700 Lakhs in 2007-08; Rs. 1000 Lakhs in 2008-09; Rs. 1319.43 Lakhs in 2009-10; Rs. 1290.41 Lakhs in 2010-11; Rs. 901 Lakhs in 2011-12; Rs. 950 Lakhs in 2012-13 and Rs. 746.26 Lakhs in 2013-14.

The total amount of funds released for Civic Action Programme in NE States for various organizations during 2006-07 to 2013-14 was: Rs. 1822.3 Lakhs for BSF; Rs. 1060.58 Lakhs for CRPF; Rs. 658.64 Lakhs for ITBP; Rs. 1122.55 Lakhs for SSB; Rs. 2265.45 Lakhs for Assam Rifles and Rs. 677.58 Lakhs for Army. Thus, Assam Rifles was given the maximum amount i.e. Rs. 2265.45 Lakhs (29.78% of the total amount) among various organizations.

Note: The figures are in Rs. in Lakhs. Budget provision for Financial Year 2013-14 is Rs. 950.00 Crore.
