Freight Movement of Road Transport and Railways

During 1999-2012, Freight movement via Road Transport has increased by CAGR of 8.3% and Freight movement via Railways has increased by CAGR of 6.7%. As a percentage of total freight movement, percentage freight movement via Road Transport has increased by CAGR of 0.5%, whereas percentage freight movement via Railways has decreased by CAGR of -0.9%. In 2011-12, 64.5 % of total freight movement was via Road Transport and in terms of percentage share of total freight movement, it was highest during 1999-2012.
