District-wise Bank Accounts Opened in Punjab under Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana as on 26th June 2019

Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) was launched on 14th August, 2014 with the objective to provide universal access to banking facilities to the people in the country. In total there were 67,67,245 bank accounts opened in Punjab under PMJDY as on 26th June 2019 since the inception of the scheme. The top 5 districts with respect to bank accounts opened in Punjab under PMJDY as on 26th June 2019 were Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Patiala, Amritsar and Firozpur.

The number of bank accounts opened in Ludhiana under PMJDY was 10,73,451 as on 26.06.2019, which accounted 15.86% of the total bank accounts opened in Punjab. There were 5,29,023 bank accounts opened in Jalandhar under PMJDY as on 26th June 2019. It accounted 7.82% of the total bank accounts opened in Punjab as on the same period. The number of bank accounts opened in Patiala under PMJDY was 4,89,473 as on 26.06.2019, which accounted 7.23% of the total bank accounts opened in Punjab.

There were 472902 and 419887 bank accounts opened in Amritsar and Firozpur respectively under PMJDY as on 26th June 2019. Amritsar accounted for 6.99% and Firozpur accounted for 6.2% of the total bank accounts opened in Punjab as on 26.06.2019.
