Consumption of Petroleum Products in India from 2011-12 to 2017-18

India has witnessed an increasing trend in consumption of petroleum products during 2011-12 to 2017-18. We have seen compound annual growth rate of 5.56% in consumption of petroleum products in India during 2011-12 to 2017-18.

Total consumption of petroleum products was 148132 thousand tonnes in India during 2011-12. It has increased by 6.03% to 157057 thousand tonnes during 2012-13 above 2011-12. Out of total consumption of 148132 thousand tonnes during 2011-12; consumption by Public Sector and Private Sector was 129532 thousand tonnes (87.4%) and 18601 thousand tonnes (12.6%) respectively. Annual growth of 5.37% has been observed in consumption of petroleum products in India during 2016-17 from 184674 thousand tonnes during 2015-16.

Total consumption of petroleum products in India was 204922 thousand tonnes during 2017-18, up by 5.31% against 194597 thousand tonnes during 2016-17. Out of total consumption of petroleum products during 2017-18; 158671 thousand tonnes (77.4%) consumption was by Public Sector and 46250 thousand tonnes (22.6%) consumption was by Private Sector.

Maximum annual growth rate of 11.57% has been found in 2015-16 in consumption of petroleum products in India during the period under consideration.
