Total amount of Rs. 45473.1 crore was collected as cess in India under building and other construction workers acts, 1996 as on 30.09.2018. The top 5 States/UTs with respect to cess collected in India under building and other construction workers acts, 1996 as on 30th September 2018 were Maharashtra, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and Tamil Nadu.
Amount of cess collected was Rs. 6462.23 crore from Maharashtra under building and other construction workers acts, 1996 as on 30.09.2018; which accounted 14.21% of the total cess amount collected in India. There was a collection of Rs. 5071.04 crore as cess from Karnataka under building and other construction workers acts, 1996 as on 30.09.2018. It accounted 11.15% of the total cess collected in India under building and other construction workers acts, 1996 as on the same period. Amount of Rs. 3895.14 crore was collected as cess from Uttar Pradesh under building and other construction workers acts, 1996 as on 30.09.2018; which accounted 8.57% of the total cess amount collected in India.
There was cess collection of Rs. 2547.94 crore and Rs. 2517.32 crore from Delhi and Tamil Nadu respectively under building and other construction workers acts, 1996 as on 30th September 2018. Delhi accounted for 5.6% and Tamil Nadu accounted for 5.54% of the total cess collected in India under building and other construction workers acts, 1996 as on 30.09.2018.
The aforesaid top 5 States/UTs accounted for 45.07% of the total amount of cess collected in India under building and other construction workers acts, 1996 as on 30th September 2018.
