As on 01-04-2017, there were sanctioned posts of 17106 teaching staffs in Central Universities for Professor, Associate Professor and Assistant Professor; out of which 11109 (64.94%) were existing teaching staffs and 5997 (35.06%) were vacant posts. Out of these 5997 vacant post of teaching staffs in Central Universities as on 01-04-2017; 3209 (53.51%) vacant posts were for general, 1073 (17.89%) vacant posts were for Scheduled Caste (SC), 607 (10.12%) vacant posts were for Scheduled Tribe (ST), 904 (15.07%) vacant posts were for Other Backward Class (OBC) and 204 (3.4%) vacant posts were for Persons with Disabilities (PWD). Out of these 5997 vacant post of teaching staffs in Central Universities as on 01-04-2017; 1323 (22.06%) posts were vacant for Professor, 2217 (36.97%) posts were vacant for Associate Professor and 2457 (40.97%) posts were vacant for Assistant Professor.
The number of vacant posts for general, SC, ST, OBC and PWD category was 936 (70.75%), 237 (17.91%), 119 (8.99%), 0 (0%) and 31 (2.34%) respectively for Professor, out of the total 1323 vacant posts in teaching staff for Professor in Central Universities as on 01-04-2017. The number of vacant posts for general, SC, ST, OBC and PWD category was 1420 (64.05%), 458 (20.66%), 257 (11.59%), 0 (0%) and 82 (3.7%) respectively for Associate Professor, out of the total 2217 vacant posts in teaching staff for Associate Professor in Central Universities as on 01-04-2017. The number of vacant posts for general, SC, ST, OBC and PWD category was 853 (34.72%), 378 (15.38%), 231 (9.4%), 904 (36.79%) and 91 (3.7%) respectively for Assistant Professor, out of the total 2457 vacant posts in teaching staff for Assistant Professor in Central Universities as on 01-04-2017.
