Under Skill India Mission, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship is implementing a flagship scheme known as Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) 2016-20 with an objective to provide skilling to one crore people under Short Term Training (STT), Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and Special Project (SP) across the country for four years i.e. 2016-2020.
There were 28,76,906 certified candidates in India under PMKVY as on 24th January 2019; out of which 10,64,420 (37%) candidates were placed as on the same period. The top 5 States/UTs with respect to number of candidates placed under PMKVY as on 24th January 2019 were Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu.
The number of candidates certified in Uttar Pradesh was 4,50,975 under PMKVY as on 24.01.2019. Out of which 1,65,105 (36.61%) candidates were placed; which accounted 15.51% of the total candidates placed in India under PMKVY as on 24th January 2019. There were 1,04,687 (41.23%) candidates placed in Madhya Pradesh under PMKVY as on 24th January 2019, out of 2,53,923 candidates certified. It accounted 9.84% of the total candidates placed in India under PMKVY as on the same period. As on 24th January 2019, 2,24,491 candidates were certified in Haryana under PMKVY. Out of which 1,01,628 (45.27%) candidates were placed; which accounted 9.55% of the total candidates placed in India under PMKVY as on 24.01.2019.
The number of candidates placed in Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu was 98,830 and 75,620 respectively under PMKVY as on 24.01.2019. Rajasthan accounted for 9.28% and Tamil Nadu accounted for 7.1% of the total candidates placed in India under PMKVY as on 24th January 2019.
