Under Assistance to Disabled Persons for Purchase/ Fitting of Aids and Appliances (ADIP) Scheme the funds are released to various Implementing Agencies to assist the needy disabled persons (Divyangjan) including mentally challenged divyangjan, in all the States in procuring durable, sophisticated and scientifically manufactured, modern, standard aids and appliances that can promote their physical, social and psychological rehabilitation by reducing the effects of disabilities and enhance their economic potential. The scheme also envisages conduct of corrective surgeries, whenever required, before providing an assistive device.
Number of beneficiaries benefited under ADIP scheme by various Implementing Agencies in India was 277225, 239560, 205614, and 133771 during 2013-14, 2014-15, 2015-16 and 2016-17 (as on 30.11.2016) respectively. The top 5 States/UTs in terms of number of beneficiaries under ADIP scheme by various Implementing Agencies during 2016-17 (as on 30.11.2016) were: Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and West Bengal.
27284 persons were benefitted in Uttar Pradesh during 2016-17, under ADIP scheme by various Implementing Agencies. It accounted 20.4% of the total number of beneficiaries benefitted under ADIP scheme by various Implementing Agencies in India during same period. 19114 persons were benefitted in Gujarat during 2016-17, under ADIP scheme by various Implementing Agencies. It accounted 14.29% of the total number of beneficiaries benefitted under ADIP scheme by various Implementing Agencies in India during same period. 12446 persons were benefitted in Maharashtra during 2016-17, under ADIP scheme by various Implementing Agencies. It accounted 9.3% of the total number of beneficiaries benefitted under ADIP scheme by various Implementing Agencies in India during same period.
11209 persons were benefitted in Madhya Pradesh during 2016-17, under ADIP scheme by various Implementing Agencies. It accounted 8.38% of the total number of beneficiaries benefitted under ADIP scheme by various Implementing Agencies in India during same period. 7125 persons were benefitted in West Bengal during 2016-17, under ADIP scheme by various Implementing Agencies. It accounted 5.33% of the total number of beneficiaries benefitted under ADIP scheme by various Implementing Agencies in India during same period.
The above mentioned top 5 states accounted for 57.69% of the total number of beneficiaries benefitted under ADIP scheme by various Implementing Agencies in India as a whole during 2016-17 (as on 30.11.2016).
