Beneficiaries Assisted for setting up Individual/Group Micro Enterprises under DAY-NULM during 2016-17 & 2017-18

The Government of India has implemented Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Urban Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NULM) in the statutory towns with the aim to reduce poverty and vulnerability of the urban poor households by enabling them to access gainful self-employment and skilled wage employment opportunities, resulting in an appreciable improvement in their livelihoods on a sustainable basis.

Under DAY-NULM, 2,02,919 beneficiaries had been assisted for setting up individual/group micro enterprises in India during the period 2016-17 & 2017-18, out of which 86,219 (42.49%) and 1,16,700 (57.51%) were assisted during 2016-17 & 2017-18 respectively. The top 5 States/UTs with respect to beneficiaries assisted for setting up individual/group micro enterprises under DAY-NULM during 2017-18 were Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra.

The number of beneficiaries assisted for setting up individual/group micro enterprises in Tamil Nadu was 21,523 under DAY-NULM during 2017-18, which accounted 18.44% of the total beneficiaries assisted under DAY-NULM in India. There were 21,196 beneficiaries assisted for setting up individual/group micro enterprises in Andhra Pradesh under DAY-NULM during 2017-18. It accounted 18.16% of the total beneficiaries assisted for setting up individual/group micro enterprises under DAY-NULM in India during the same period. The number of beneficiaries assisted for setting up individual/group micro enterprises in Madhya Pradesh was 20,415 under DAY-NULM during 2017-18, which accounted 17.49% of the total beneficiaries assisted under DAY-NULM in India.

During 2017-18, 12,937 and 7,259 beneficiaries were assisted from Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra respectively for setting up individual/group micro enterprises under DAY-NULM. Uttar Pradesh accounted for 11.09% and Maharashtra accounted for 6.22% of the total beneficiaries assisted for setting up individual/group micro enterprises under DAY-NULM in India during 2017-18.
