The wages paid per day to skilled convicts vary amongst various states/UTs. The average wages paid per day to skilled convicts in India in 2013 was Rs. 56.57.

The top 10 states/UTs paying the highest wages to the skilled convicts were: Puducherry with Rs. 170 (which was 300.51% of the all India average wage paid to skilled convicts i.e. Rs. 56.57); Bihar with Rs. 121 (which was 213.89% of the all India average wage); Tamil Nadu with Rs. 100 (which was 176.77% of the all India average wage); Delhi with Rs. 99 (which was 175% of the all India average wage); Karnataka with Rs. 90 (which was 159.09% of the all India average wage); Goa with Rs. 80 (which was 141.42% of the all India average wage); Arunachal Pradesh with Rs. 75 (which was 132.58% of the all India average wage); Assam with Rs. 75 (which was 132.58% of the all India average wage); Andhra Pradesh with Rs. 70 (which was 123.74% of the all India average wage) and Meghalaya with Rs. 70 (which was 123.74% of the all India average wage).

The 5 states/UTs paying the lowest wages to the skilled convicts were: Chhattisgarh with Rs. 30; Tripura with Rs. 25; Jammu and Kashmir with Rs. 24; Mizoram with Rs. 15 and Manipur with Rs. 12.
