Annual Averages for Textiles, Wearing apparel and Luggage and footwear from 2005-06 to 2013-14

The Index of Industrial Production (IIP) is a composite indicator that measures the changes in the volume of production of a basket of industrial products during a given period with respect to the volume of production in a chosen base period. The Index of Industrial Production (IIP) currently has 2004-05 as base year. The total weight of the IIP is 1000 having trifurcation among Mining and Quarrying (141.57), Manufacturing (755.27) and Electricity (103.16).

Textiles category has a weightage of 61.64 in the Index of Industrial Production (IIP). Thus the category of Textiles accounts for the 8.16% of the total Manufacturing Sector (with weight of 755.27 in IIP) and 6.16% of the entire IIP (having total weight equivalent to 1000). The index for Textiles has increased from 108.33 in the year 2005-2006 to 148.25 in the year 2013-14. Thus it has shown total increase of 39.92 points during the period from 2005-06 to 2013-14. The average annual growth in the index from 2005-06 to 2013-14 was 4.99 points.

Wearing apparel; dressing and dyeing of fur category has a weightage of 27.82 in the Index of Industrial Production (IIP). Thus the category of Wearing apparel; dressing and dyeing of fur accounts for the 3.68% of the total Manufacturing Sector (with weight of 755.27 in IIP) and 2.78% of the entire IIP (having total weight equivalent to 1000). The index for Wearing apparel; dressing and dyeing of fur has increased from 114.08 in the year 2005-2006 to 171.61 in the year 2013-14. Thus it has shown total increase of 57.53 points during the period from 2005-06 to 2013-14. The average annual growth in the index from 2005-06 to 2013-14 was 7.19 points.

Luggage; handbags; saddlery; harness and footwear; tanning and dressing of leather products category has a weightage of 5.82 in the Index of Industrial Production (IIP). Thus the category of Luggage; handbags; saddlery; harness and footwear; tanning and dressing of leather products accounts for the 0.77% of the total Manufacturing Sector (with weight of 755.27 in IIP) and 0.58% of the entire IIP (having total weight equivalent to 1000). The index for Luggage; handbags; saddlery; harness and footwear; tanning and dressing of leather products has increased from 90.87 in the year 2005-2006 to 133.68 in the year 2013-14. Thus it has shown total increase of 42.81 points during the period from 2005-06 to 2013-14. The average annual growth in the index from 2005-06 to 2013-14 was 5.35 points.
