Anganwadi Helpers (AWHs) in Position as on 31st December 2018

The total number of Anganwadi Helpers (AWHs) in position was 1186473 (92.5%) in India as on 31st December 2018, out of 1282897 sanctioned by Government of India (GOI). The top 5 States/UTs with respect to AWHs in position as on 31.12.2018 were Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Maharashtra, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh.

As on 31st December 2018, there were 149641 (89.1%) AWHs in position in Uttar Pradesh, out of the sanctioned strength of 167855 by GOI. It accounted 12.61% of the total AWHs in position in India as on 31-12-2018. The number of AWHs in position was 101206 in West Bengal as on 31.12.2018, which accounted 8.53% of the total AWHs in position in India. The sanctioned strength of AWHs by GOI was 119481 for West Bengal as on 31st December 2018. There were 90504 (92.8%) AWHs in position in Maharashtra as on 31-12-2018, out of the sanctioned strength of 97475 by GOI. It accounted 7.63% of the total AWHs in position in India as on 31st December 2018.

The number of AWHs in position was 87168 and 82854 in Bihar and Madhya Pradesh respectively as on 31st December 2018. Bihar accounted 7.35% and Madhya Pradesh accounted 6.98% of the total AWHs in position in India as on 31.12.2018. The sanctioned strength of AWHs by GOI was 107894 for Bihar and 84465 for Madhya Pradesh as on 31st December 2018.
