All India Consumer Price Index (CPI) during January 2014 to October 2014

Consumer Price Indices (CPI) measure changes over time in general level of prices of goods and services that households acquire for the purpose of consumption. For construction of CPI numbers, two requisite components are weighing diagrams (consumption patterns) and price data collected at regular intervals. The data refers to group wise all India Consumer Price Index for Rural & Urban area with base year 2010.

All India Consumer Price Index (CPI) – General index has increased from 137.4 in January 2014 to 145.2 in October 2014 showing an increase of 7.8 points. All India Consumer Price Index (CPI) – Cereal and Products has increased from 136.5 in January 2014 to 141.4 in October 2014 showing an increase of 4.9 points. All India Consumer Price Index (CPI) -Vegetables has increased from 148.9 in January 2014 to 190.9 in October 2014 showing an increase of 42 points. This is a very high growth rate and affects the poor significantly. All India Consumer Price Index (CPI) -Medical Care has increased from 126.1 in January 2014 to 130.8 in October 2014 showing an increase of 4.7 points. All India Consumer Price Index (CPI) -Clothing – bedding and footwear has increased from 148.5 in January 2014 to 155.8 in October 2014 showing an increase of 7.3 points.

Consumer Price Index (CPI) for rural area-General index has increased from 139.2 in January 2014 to 147.2 in October 2014 showing an increase of 8 points. Consumer Price Index (CPI) for urban area-General index has increased from 135 in January 2014 to 142.7 in October 2014 showing an increase of 7.7 points. Thus Inflation has registered higher growth rate in rural areas from January 2014 to October 2014.
